Description :
I have some exciting news for wildlife enthusiasts from Jim Corbett National Park. In Uttarakhand's Terai Western Forest Division, near Corbett Park, the Phato Tourism Zone has been developed. The best part is that this new safari path allows you to visit yet another lovely portion of the magnificent jungle. This zone is not part of the Corbett National Park, although the forest is similar, and it is near to Jim Corbett's Dhela Zone. The Phato Zone was inaugurated by Mr. Diwan Singh Bisht on January 2, 2022, who is the sitting MLA of Ramnagar.
This zone is currently hosting a day safari. However, in the future, it will be quite unique in terms of overnight accommodations. Tourists will be able to stay in the tree house here. The jungle safari in the phato zone has been started with 50 jeeps in the morning slot and 50 jeeps in the afternoon slot. Currently, entry permits are provided at the phato entry gate, but visitors will soon be able to obtain them online through the government portal. The phato entry gate is located 23 kilometres from Ramnagar in Maldhan village. For a phato zone safari, visitors can book a jypsy from Ramnagar.
The scenery in the Phato region is beautiful. It is distinct from the rest of Corbett's regions. It also has a large number of tigers, elephants, deer, and other animals. There are significant odds of seeing a tiger in the phato zone, as several tourists have already seen tigers since the gate opened. Because the forest is dense in the Phato zone, there is an abundance of tigers as well as other fauna.
In the Phato region, there are 7-8 water reservoirs. Some are natural, while others are artificial. These watering holes are an important element of the forest since animals frequent them to satisfy their thirst. As a result, these water holes are also ideal locations to spot animals in their native habitat. The Royal Bengal Tigers are frequently seen near these reservoirs. The Phato zone also has a unique water hole that resembles a little pink lake.
Entry Formalities:
As the entire periphery of the Jim Corbett National Park falls under restricted and protected area, so official permission is required to visit the core area of the tiger territory. There are two kinds of official permits issued by the government for entering into any safari zone of the park. Day visit permit (for Elephant/canter safari) and Permits for night stay inside the Government forest lodges The day visit permits are required by Indian nationals as well as foreigners for entering into any tourism zone in Corbett National Park. Accommodation inside the park is possible after obtaining night stay permit that are issued by issuing authorities of Government officials.
